Contraception –contraceptive rod/implant insertion/removal, hormonal IUD removal
Many of the doctors practising at Beaumaris Medical Centre are experienced in all aspects of contraception, with a number undertaking extra training by completing a Certificate of Family Planning & Sexual Health. They can provide you with up-to-date information and advice regarding the best option for you. A number of the doctors have extra training and are able to insert and remove Implanon (contraceptive rod), and most will remove Mirena & copper IUDs.
Pre-pregnancy advice and pregnancy care
Many of the doctors are excited to assist you with all aspects of your pregnancy, from pre-pregnancy conception planning, to antenatal and post natal care. They can assist you with decision making regarding unplanned pregnancies and with screening choices in your pregnancy, including the use of non invasive prenatal testing (NIPT). Dr Susan Mouritz can provide shared care together with the Sandringham Hospital (a division of The Royal Women’s Hospital).
Management of menopause
It’s recognised that menopause can be difficult time for some women. The doctors can help to guide you through this change of life by providing education, care and compassion, whilst providing up-to-date information on nutrition, exercise, hormone therapy and other forms of treatment if required. Dr Amanda Newman also works at the Jean Hailes Centre and is very experienced in this area.
Cervical screening
All the doctors perform cervical screening tests (pap smears) and keep up-to-date with the latest screening guidelines and the management of abnormal results.
